The rolling countryside west of Madison is one of the state’s most beautiful regions and perched on one of these scenic hills you’ll find one of the state’s most beautiful wineries. Botham Vineyards & Winery produces some wonderful wines and its gorgeous hilltop winery and patio is the ideal destination for a relaxing afternoon.
Here’s what you need to know about this special Wisconsin winery.
Botham Winery is located at an old farm near Barneveld, Wisconsin. It’s near popular attractions like Cave of the Mounds and Blue Mounds State Park, so there are plenty of reasons to make a day trip to the area.
The winery’s tasting room offers a free three-glass tasting. For a small fee, you can upgrade to a tasting that includes more samples. You can also order wine by the glass.
The tasting room is in an old barn that’s been completely refurbished. It has all the winery’s popular wines displayed among vintage signs and gifts. There’s also a small selection of local chocolate and Wisconsin cheese.
While you might be tempted to buy a bottle or case to go and continue your adventure, consider ordering a glass and heading to the patio for a while. There are tables surrounded by shade trees just a short walk from the tasting room. Bring a friend and enjoy the day!
You may run into the resident cat in the tasting room of this vine-to-bottle winery. The winery asks that you leave your own pets at home, however.
The winery sometimes holds special events, like a gathering of vintage cars, a 5k race, and concerts on the patio. They are all great reasons to visit the winery.
The winery has won a ton of awards for its wine – you can admire the trophy case right next to the tasting area and then judge their varieties for yourself. Popular varieties include Uplands Reserve, Vin 10, Badger Blush, and Big Stuff Red. Interested in exploring more great wineries? Check out these road trip-worthy Wisconsin wineries.
