For locals in Huntington, the iconic giant spinning Frostop Root Beer mug atop the legendary drive-in is a beloved neighborhood fixture.
So much so, that in 2019, Frostop will turn 60 — and that's quite an achievement. Just ask anyone who grew up with Frostop, and you'll get the same line of answers.
Nobody then, or now, makes a root beer float that compares to the floats that spill over the tops of the frosty mugs at Frostop.
The root beer here is made daily — a rare treat in this day and age. Generations of families have been stopping at Frostop for a taste of the awesome root beer and some delicious fare; they're the special ingredients that are guaranteed to make memories that will last a lifetime.
Frostop opened in 1959 and since then, the neighborhood has grown up around the iconic neighborhood joint.
Among the things that haven't changed are the affordable prices at this roadside drive-in.
Today, you can still get a delicious melt in your mouth hot dog for under two bucks and attentive car hops who'll show up at your window before you get your car in park.
