Bread has always symbolized one of life's basic necessities. In the olden days, you couldn't have bread without access to a mill to grind your wheat into flour. Now, only a few mill buildings are left in West Virginia, and even fewer still provide customers with bread. Brownstone Mill in Mt. Nebo won't grind your wheat into flour, but they will sell you some, and they also serve up some of the best bread and baked goods around!
There's a new kid in town in Mt. Nebo, West Virginia!
Or perhaps it's more accurate to say that there's a new mill on the block: Brownstone Mill.
And as soon as you step inside, you'll realize what a special place it is. Part General Store, part bakery and deli, part favorite community gathering spot, the Brownstone Mill brings people together with good food, local products, and friendly service.
There's always a big crock of homemade soup bubbling away in the corner, fresh cinnamon rolls or cookies cooling on the counter, and even fresh hams curing in the back!
Yes indeed ... if there's one thing you absolutely have to try on a visit to Brownstone Mill, it's the ham. Come taste a slice and you'll never go back to any other type of ham ever again!
Try it on one of Brownstone Mill's delicious sandwich specials for a lunch treat or get a hunk of it to go (by itself or with rolls and salad) for your supper.
Of course, if you're not a ham lover, there are other options as well, like this Kickin' Cajun Turkey Sandwich paired with Broccoli Cheddar Soup!
(Note that the daily soup and sandwich specials are subject to change ... but they are ALWAYS delicious!)
Not hungry enough for a sandwich? That's okay. Coffee's on the house with any purchase at Brownstone Mill.
And there are plenty of other delicious, homemade, fresh, and/or local products to choose from to qualify for that free cup!
And where there's a mill, there's water, so make sure to enjoy a stroll around the beautiful mill pond before you go.
There's no other waterfront lunch spot quite like it!
The Brownstone Mill is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. They are located at 132 Brownstone Village Drive in Mount Nebo.
