If you are looking to find food and drink somewhere new, consider one of these themed bars in West Virginia that will liven up your evening and put a spring in your step. Each of these bars are also restaurants, so if you like your drinks with food, each of these places has what you are looking for.
1. Tropics - Morgantown
This Morgantown bar takes you to Hawaii without the expense. The tropical theme of this restaurant/bar adds a great ambiance to the place. They also have specials every night. There is a brunch on Sunday from 10:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. Monday is wing night, Tuesday is fish taco night, Wednesday features all-you-can-eat-crab, steak night is Thursday, and the weekends often feature live music. Tropics is located at 2500 Cranberry Square.
2. Vintage Restaurant and Raw Bar - Elkins
This restaurant is intended to emulate the typical night club of the '40s - stylish and elegant. Though you wont see Frank Sinatra sitting in a booth, the place will still remind you of a different era. They have a varied menu of of food from pad Thai to beef stroganoff, many of which are paired with a specific wine. There are several private dining rooms and semi-private "pods" as well. There is also a lounge area near the bar (see above photo) to enjoy a drink or two. Vintage is located at 25 Randolph Ave.
3. The Mad Hatter Club - Beckley
You might have fallen down a rabbit hole if you wind up here, but not to worry, this family owned establishment has a great drink menu and food comprised of the freshest ingredients. Its so good, it just might drive you completely bonkers. But that's okay, all the best people are. The club is located at 410 2nd St.
4. Captain's Quarters - New Martinsville
This nautically-themed restaurant and bar has many drinks. Be sure to try the Brew City Fries, wings by the pound, burgers, pasta, and steaks. And, of course, there are plenty of drink choices to wash it all down. The Captain's Quarters is located on the high sea. Okay, not really; you can actually find it at 198 N State Route 2.
5. Tractor Bar - Mt. Nebo
This bar was featured in a GQ Magazine article called "The Dirty Dozen – Twelve of the Weirdest, Wackiest Bars in America Worth a Road Trip," plus a few other publications. When owner Steve Brown opened the bar, his funds were so tight he salvaged parts to make bar stools from tractor seats and machine parts for decorations. There is even a real 1919 Fordson steel-wheeled tractor in the center of the bar. The bar is located at 549 Wilderness Hwy.
6. Touch of Texas - Bunker Hill
You don't have to leave West Virginia for a true Texas experience. Line dancing, live music and a mechanical bull are all there. Of course, the beer selection is fairly impressive, as are the house cocktails - with selections like the Kinky Cowgirl, Tito’s Texas Sunrise, Prairie Punch, and Sex on the Farm. Touch of Texas is located at 12261 Winchester Ave.
7. Sixpence Pub and Eatery - Parkersburg
This English-themed pub has all the classic pub foods, such as fish and chips. There are daily specials on several food items, such as appetizers and buckets of beer. Be sure to stay for the karaoke and live music. Sixpence is located at 1956 7th St.
8. The Copper Still Pub & Grill - Martinsburg
This bar offers a true West Virginia experience, celebrating the moonshiners and bootleggers of Appalachia during Prohibition. The decorations and the menu both emulate prohibition-era alcohol makers. All their menu items are handmade, from the appetizers to the burgers. Be sure to swing by to catch their Friday Night Steak Special. The Copper Still is located at 1911 Winchester Ave.
9. The Villa Italian Bar & Grill - Bluefield
This restaurant and bar is designed to have an old world Italian feel, with grape vines around the bar and tables and pastoral Italian countryside scenes painted on the walls. It is the perfect Italian experience. Aside from the great food, a server will be more than happy to help you select a wine to pair with your meal. The villa is located at 4025 College Ave.
