Whidbey Island always makes a delightful getaway. Packed with picturesque parks, rugged shoreline, and charming little towns with fantastic restaurants and shops, there's no denying it's one of Washington's finest gems. And if you've ever been lucky enough to find Whidbey Pies, you already know how special of a place it is. In fact, their Loganberry Pie is world famous.
Whidbey Pies and Cafe is located in Greenbank, a small community in the middle of Whidbey Island.
The place itself is a bit of a hidden gem, but once you spot the big red barn, there's no denying that you've discovered something special.
The cafe is located on the property of the former Greenbank Farm, which was once home to the largest loganberry farm in the country.
These days, it's a warm, cozy cafe that attracts locals and tourists alike.
The cafe serves an abundance of delicious lunch foods, like homemade soups, salads, and grilled sandwiches...
... but of course, they're best known for their award-winning pies.
While the shop sells seasonal specialty pies, they also have a great list of classic flavors that are always available.
The Loganberry Pie is the company's signature pie, and it's a best-seller. It has also earned international praise.
The loganberry is a blackberry-raspberry hybrid that has a sweet but tart taste most people can't get enough of. The berry was actually created in Santa Cruz, California, but it was perfected right here in Washington on the Greenbank Farm.
The cafe's owner, Joe, grew up baking pies with his mother, Jan. Jan was the original owner of Whidbey Pies and Cafe.
Eventually, Joe took over, and now he bakes about 75,000 pies per year, all of which are handmade.
You owe it to yourself to try a Loganberry Pie -- or any other tasty treat -- here.
Whidbey Pies and Cafe is open from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. every day except Tuesday.
Have you ever been to Whidbey Pies? There's no time like the present for an introduction to the loganberry.
