Since their 1971 beginnings in Seattle, Starbucks has grown into a worldwide chain and a household name. And a few years ago, the company went in a bold new direction, opening the Starbucks Roastery and Tasting Room right in their "hometown" of Seattle. And despite the fact that they just opened a somewhat similar roastery in Shaghai, there truly is no other place like this one in the world.
The impressive Starbucks Reserve Roastery & Tasting Room opened in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood in December 2014.
The Roastery was meant to be a celebration of where the company had been and where it was going.
The interior is a coffee lover's dream.
From iced espresso with mint to the famous Shaerato (espresso shaken with ice & a hint of demerara syrup), you'll find all kinds of creative concoctions you won't find anywhere else.
At the impressive Scoop Bar, you'll have your choice of fresh beans to take home.
You can also watch the roasting process itself.
Last November, Italian bakery Princi opened its first U.S. location inside the Roastery.
The partnership with Princi is a big one and will lead to the bakeries opening inside all the Roasteries Starbucks plans to open.
Recently, a new Starbucks Reserve opened in Shanghai, and Starbucks plans to open one in Milan later this year...
... but they'll never hold the title of the original, which was built where Seattle was "born."
Even if you're not a fan of Starbucks, you should really check out the Roastery and Tasting Room.
They also have a cafe with tasty food options and a bar if you'd rather have beer or wine.
We're excited to see what the future holds for these unique Starbucks concepts. Here are some great unique dining experiences you can only have in the Evergreen State.
