When you feel like going out for a drink in Seattle, your options are practically unlimited. From cozy speakeasies to loud nightclubs, the Emerald City has it all -- and fortunately for us, that includes The Unicorn. This quirky bar has been a longtime staple on Capitol Hill. And while you can't exactly expect a five star dining experience or even service with a smile (sometimes), it only takes one visit to fall in love with it.
The Unicorn sits on East Pike Street on Capitol Hill, where it has been a local icon for over a decade.
The vibrant colors on the doors give a small hint of what's to come.
Inside you'll find an ornately decorated bar and a space that can only be described as colorful.
The Unicorn is a carnival-themed spot, which is both kitschy and striking -- and it's fantastic.
Between the strange taxidermy and the eclectic art on the walls, you'll be entertained by the decor alone.
But if you can pry your eyes away, you'll find PacMan and a few other games in the bar's dark corners.
The cocktails here can only be described as creative, both in name and recipe.
Sip on a Snozzberry Frost, a Mystical Mermaid, or a Cereal Killer, which is made with Fruit Loop vodka.
The Unicorn also serves food, which ranges from classic carnival corn dogs to mac & cheese and salads.
Two popular picks are Unicorn Balls, which are fried pork balls, and Narwhal Balls (fried, cheesy potato croquettes).
Did we mention that there's an entire separate bar downstairs known as The Narwhal that opened in 2012?
If The Unicorn is a carnival, this would be more like a psychedelic circus.
The Narwhal sometimes hosts dance parties and drag queen performances, but it's the classic arcade games that will keep you coming back for more.
From Pinball to Frogger, you'll be entertained all evening -- and don't forget to step inside the photo booth after a couple of cocktails.
The Unicorn is open daily, although hours vary.
From Monday - Friday, they're open from 2 p.m. - 1:45 a.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, you can order cocktails and corn dogs starting at 11 a.m.
Check out this visual delight the next time you're in Seattle -- it's even more delightful in person.
