Trendy, modern eateries have their time and place, but sometimes nothing tops a hearty meal at a good old-fashioned dive bar. Spokane's Park Inn is a perfect example, as this hole-in-the-wall has been serving tasty food and cold drinks for decades. And to top it off, for two years in a row, it was awarded the title of serving the best fried chicken in the state.
The Park Inn is located at 103 W 9th Avenue in Spokane, where it has remained since 1932.
Not only is it Spokane's longest continuously operated restaurant, but it's one of the oldest restaurants in Eastern Washington.
You won't get a 5-star dining experience here, and that's the point.
What you will get is friendly service, a cool, historic vibe, tasty food, and cold beverages.
The food menu at the Park Inn is extensive, offering everything from breakfast to burgers.
The old-fashioned burger list is extensive (and delicious).
You can even get pizza, which isn't common at a place that serves so many other food items.
And if you're in the mood for a deli sandwich or some loaded nachos, look no further.
But what really puts this place on the map is the incredible fried chicken.
The Broasted Chicken Dinner, which is just $17.95, features four big pieces of fried chicken served with piping hot JoJos.
In 2019 and 2020, MSN named the Park Inn the home of the "best hole-in-the-wall fried chicken in the state of Washington."
Considering Washington is home to some famous chicken spots, like Seattle's Chicken and Spokane's own Chicken N More, not to mention the abundance of Korean chicken joints on the west side, that's quite an honor.
The next time you're in Spokane, order a Broasted Chicken Dinner at the Park Inn and experience it for yourself.
