Going vegan used to be a lot more difficult. But plant-based cuisine has come a long way in recent years, especially in the Pacific Northwest. Now, even devout carnivores are finding some of Washington's vegan restaurants pleasant places to enjoy a tasty meal. And if you've ever dined at RUT Bar & Kitchen in Spokane, you know that this is a place where you'll never miss the meat. We promise.
RUT Bar & Kitchen is located in Spokane's South Hill neighborhood, where it has been since it opened in the spring of 2019.
The restaurant was opened by two chefs who not only eat plant-based diets themselves, but have extensive experience in the food industry.
The co-owners set out to create an artistic and conscientious dining experience, but also one that is approachable.
If you're new to vegan cuisine, it's common to feel a little intimidated -- but here, you'll feel anything but.
Plenty of vegans and meat-eaters alike love dining at RUT. All are welcome here.
And if you'd like something that looks like the "real thing," try the RUT Burger, which comes with a Beyond burger patty.
If you're in the mood for something healthy, you can't go wrong with something like a Boy Choy Bowl or a salad.
Despite what you might be thinking, there actually aren't all that many salads on the menu. Vegans eat so much more (although the salads served here are definitely delicious).
From the Crispy Not Chicken Sandwich to the BBQ Jackfruit Sandwich (pictured here), the hand-held menu items are out of this world.
Just make sure you save room for dessert. The Lava Brownie Sundae is out of this world.
RUT has a full bar, and the Libations menu is fantastic.
The cocktails are so creative, you'll want to try them all. We do not recommend doing this in one visit.
RUT Bar & Kitchen is open Wednesday - Monday from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Dine in at the cozy restaurant or take your tasty food to-go.
Even if you don't eat a plant-based diet yourself, you probably have a few friends who do. Take them to a place where they don't have to worry about what to order. Learn more about RUT here.
