They could come in the form of a hidden nature trail, an out-of-the-way historic hotel, or in this case, a charming tea room sitting inside a grainery from the early 1900s. The next time you find yourself in Mount Vernon, don't forget to stop for a spot of tea.
You'll find the Olde Towne Grainery Tea Room on East Montgomery Street in Mount Vernon, which sits on the second floor of the historic grainery building.
You won't find anything else like this in Skagit County, which is part of the appeal.
Owner Jenni Belisle purchased the tea room in 2018, and she's worked hard to give it her own unique flair.
The ritual of afternoon tea service dates back to the Victorian era, and you'll definitely notice some Victorian vibes here.
First, choose your tea service from the menu.
The Queen’s Champagne Tea starts with a glass of champagne or mimosa, while the Classic Tea includes finger sandwiches, one scone per person, and assorted mini desserts.
You can choose between a wide variety of tea services, including a Little Ones Tea for children.
All traditional tea sets come with endless pots of tea, and the team will work to accommodate dietary restrictions if you have them.
In addition to the traditional tea service, you can choose between delicious soups, salads, and sandwiches for lunch.
If you're hungry, add a slice of quiche to any tea service.
The atmosphere here is cozy, comfortable, and welcoming.
While guests are more than welcome to dress up, it's certainly not required.
The Olde Towne Grainery Tea Room is open Tuesday - Sunday from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Reservations are strongly encouraged, especially on the weekends.
