No matter how you feel about beer, Washington's breweries can be great places to hang out -- especially the ones that serve food. And if you spend any time at The Old Ivy Brewery and Taproom in Vancouver, prepare to be smitten. The ivy climbing the walls of the outdoor patio will make you feel like you're in another world.
You'll find the Old Ivy Brewery and Taproom at 108 W Evergreen Blvd. in Vancouver.
Since opening its doors, it's quickly become a favorite local hangout.
The brewery was named for the venerable climbing vine outside.
Believe it or not, the vine came here all the way from Germantown, Pennsylvania. It migrated west to Hilltop Farm near Forest Grove in 1848, on to Vancouver in the late 1800s, finally arriving here with the construction of the Patio Building in 1947.
Inside, you'll find a great selection of rotating microbrews on tap.
Some of them have some pretty clever names, like Gettin' Fresh With Pam, a pale ale.
When you visit Old Ivy, come hungry.
The food is made from scratch, locally sourced, sustainable, and scrumptious.
You're welcome to visit Old Ivy anytime. However, we highly recommend going on a warm spring day and enjoying the outdoor patio.
It doesn't get much better than savoring tacos and beer in the sunshine. The century-old ivy only enhances the experience.
The Old Ivy Brewery & Taproonm is open Tuesday - Sunday.
Hours vary, bit they're open until at least 10 p.m. every night except Sunday, when they close at 9.
Check out Old Ivy's current microbrew selection on their website. This place is a must-see while you're out exploring Vancouver.
