It's no secret that some of America's best beer is born right here in the Pacific Northwest. After all, the Yakima Valley grows about 75% of the country's hops. And if you've ever been to CaskCades in Puyallup, you know they take great pride in filling their coolers and kegs with beers and ciders from Washington and Oregon. And while their current location can't be used as the gathering place it normally is, you can still get their fantastic brew -- and their delicious food -- to-go and enjoy it in the comfort of your home.
CaskCades is located in downtown Puyallup, on North Meridian.
The charming, inviting building is hard to miss.
The taphouse is owned by AJ and Andy, longtime friends who envisioned bringing the Northwest's best beer and cider to one spot.
Both AJ and Andy were born and raised in the PNW, and they're both self-proclaimed beer nerds.
On a typical day, you'll find families gathered here to enjoy some good food, cold beverages, and round after round of games.
The classic arcade games are a big hit with people of all ages.
When you visit, you'll want to come hungry (as well as thirsty).
From charcuterie platters and hummus plates to hot dogs and wraps, you'll find all kinds of tasty eats here.
But of course, CaskCades is a taphouse, and the beer is the star of the show.
They sell fantastic beer on tap as well as a huge bottle selection. And if you don't know much about beer, just ask a friendly staff member to help you choose a drink.
The beer is definitely the star of the show here -- but it's not your only option.
AJ and Andy always manage to find the best local ciders.
Of course, current conditions don't allow for dining (or drinking) in... but CaskCades is still open.
You can still get their wonderful beer and tasty food to-go. And this is a wonderful time to be supporting our local breweries and small businesses, so there should be no guilt about treating yourself to these guilty pleasures.
CaskCades has their temporary hours listed as Tuesday - Sunday from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m., closed Monday.
Call (253) 256-4210 to order your hot dogs and beer ahead of time or to see if those hours have changed. And since they're currently takeout only, they're only allowed to welcome guests who are 21 and over at this time.
