It isn't every day you can walk into a bar and order a handcrafted moonshine cocktail, at least not in the Pacific Northwest. But that's exactly what Dirty Oscar's Annex is known for, aside from their rather odd name. This decade-old public house is located in Tacoma, and it's a local treasure worth discovering.
Dirty Oscar's Annex opened in 2010 on 6th Avenue and Tacoma.
It's easy to walk right past this unassuming spot, but you'll probably regret it if you do.
A year after its opening, Dirty Oscar's was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives.
Guy Fieri was especially impressed with the pork taco he tried.
The restaurant opens for breakfast at 8 a.m. each morning, offering classics like chicken & waffles and biscuits & gravy.
But since it's primarily a moonshine bar, the entire place is 21 and over only.
The burger list here is both creative and delicious -- and choosing one can feel impossible.
The El Chapo Burger, pictured here, is a chorizo and beef burger with avocado, Queso Blanco, and Pico de Gallo on a pretzel bun. Another popular pick is the Dead Elvis Burger, with bacon candy, fried banana, peanut butter, and an egg.
The nachos come topped with anything from chicken to elk, in addition to piles of queso and pico.
The culinary team here creates comfort food that is out of this world.
If you imbibe, you'll definitely want to order a moonshine cocktail.
After all, that's what this place is known for.
When you're offered dessert, try not to say no under any circumstances.
You're never too full for something like this cookie skillet, even if you have to share it.
Dirty Oscar's Annex is open Monday - Thursday from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. - 11 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Check them out the next time you happen to find yourself hungry in Tacoma.
