Cupcakes may be a classic dessert, but they've really become a creative trend in Washington over the last decade. Artisanal cupcake shops have cropped up all over the state, and Washingtonians are loving every minute (and bite) of it. 1. Stuffed Cakes, 9003 35th Ave SW, Seattle

In a city like Seattle that's packed with tempting bakeries, it can be tough to stand out in the crowd. But the team at Stuffed Cakes has carefully carved out their own niche, packing their cupcakes with flavor and stuffing them with things like chocolate mousse or preserves. No wonder these treats have been featured on the Food Network.

2. Sweet Frostings Blissful Bake Shop, multiple locations, Spokane

Believe it or not, these cupcakes taste even better than they look. Sweet Frostings specializes in custom creations, but you can always stop by one of their bake shops and see what they've made fresh each day.

3. Miss Moffett's Mystical Cupcakes, 625 Black Lake Blvd SW, Ste B24, Olympia

Made famous by Cake Wars on the Food Network, Miss Moffett's Mystical Cupcakes are a beloved staple in Olympia. As awesome as the name of this spot is, the confectionary creations are even better.

4. Icing on the Cake, 314 W Champion St., Bellingham

Often spotted at Bellingham's Farmers Market, Icing on the Cake is known for their special occasion desserts as well as having some of the best cupcakes on the planet.

5. Vinman's Bakery, 700 E University Way Ste 2, Ellensburg

Cupcakes aren't the only things offered at this bountiful bakery, but once you try one, you'll be hooked.

6. hello, cupcake, 1740 Pacific Ave., Tacoma

Tacoma's premier cupcake bakery is warm, inviting, and absolutely delightful. Thankfully, so are the cupcakes they serve.

7. Nana's Tiny Cakes, 9014 NE St Johns Rd, Ste 102, Vancouver

Founded in 2010 by by Jonette Molyneux (Nana), Nana's Tiny Cakes serves the best cupcakes in Vancouver. There are at least 8 flavors available every day, or you can make a special order for your next party.

8. Cupcake Royale, multiple locations, Seattle

You've got to love a cupcake shop that bears the slogan "Legalize frostitution." Cupcake Royale serves delicious cupcakes and homemade ice cream throughout Seattle that's made without artificial ingredients. And here's a fact that's almost as sweet as the cupcakes: The owner, Jody Hall, is a wonderful person who does a lot to support local causes and small businesses in the area.

9. Cravings Bakery & Cafe, 1300 South 2nd St.,

Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon residents are lucky indeed. This cafe offers a full selection of breakfast and lunch items, and those who save room for dessert quickly discover that the cupcakes are second to none.

10. Frost Me Sweet Bakery & Bistro, 710 The Pkwy, Richland

Richland's gourmet bake shop is fairly new to town, but it's already extremely popular -- and the treats, especially the cupcakes, taste as great as they look.

11. Frosted - The Cupcake Shop, 7 S 1st Ave., Walla Walla

Walla Walla is known for its wine, and luckily, vino pairs perfectly with cupcakes. The treats here are baked fresh every morning and sold from the retail shop or delivered upon request.

12. Sweet Dreams Bakery, 3131 N Division St., Spokane

Many Spokane residents will passionately argue that these are the best cupcakes in the city. Try them and decide for yourself (spoiler alert: They're amazing).

13. Wanna Cupcake?, 2102 E Main, Puyallup

Once you see the delicacies that await you inside these doors, the answer to this question will be a resounding "Yes." The cupcake menu changes daily, but there are always at least 13 flavors -- and there's even a drive through window.
