Head to Alexandria, Virginia and you can visit the very spot where the Nation's first president allegedly loved to celebrate his birthday.
Here's a closer look at the famous Gadsby's Tavern:
Old Town Alexandria is chock full of historic buildings, monuments, and relics of the past that could impress just about anyone. A prime example is Gadsby's Tavern, situated on the scenic North Royal Street.

Among other significant historical figures, George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison frequented the tavern. It's believed that Washington attended a birthday ball held in his honor here.

Even the place settings, while they're a more recent addition, have the feel of a lovely colonial tavern.
The menu is filled with both tasty appetizers, such as Chesapeake Bay crabmeat, Smithfield ham biscuits, and more upscale menu items, such as beef tenderloin and meat loaf.
If you're feeling a little adventurous, you should try ordering something that would have been enjoyed over two hundred years ago, such as the Gentleman's Pye. This dish is a beef and red wine stew topped with whipped potatoes and a pastry crust.
In addition to dinner, the tavern is also open for lunch and Sunday brunch. Who wouldn't love the chance to dine as if you're George Washington?
So whether you're visiting for the history or for the unique food, it's hard to imagine a more Virginian experience than dining at this restaurant and National historic landmark.
