Here in Virginia, you don't have to go far to find a grew brew. With microbreweries popping up in every corner, the opportunity to sample quality craft beer is virtually everywhere. That's especially true if you happen to find yourself in Charlottesville. With a well-established craft beer scene, this small town could easily be considered the brewery capital of the mid-Atlantic. Here are just a few reasons why you should (responsibly!) enjoy all that C-ville has to offer:
1. South Street Brewery
Visit South Street Brewery to experience Charlottesville's longest-running brew pub. This spot cultivates beer that blends into the traditional central Virginia scene, yet also enjoys experimenting with some truly unique flavors. You can also head in if you're looking for a delicious bite to eat. Address: 106 S St W
Charlottesville, VA 22902.
2. Random Row Brewery
One of the newest breweries in the area, Random Row has certainly taken Charlottesville by storm. With a great atmosphere, incredible brew selection, and flights that are served in tree trunks, there's a lot to love about this spot. And if you're not into beer, they've got tasty homemade kombucha on tap. Random Row also offers weekly events such as yoga and bingo. Address: 608 Preston Ave A, Charlottesville, VA 22903.
3. Three Notch'd Brewing Co.

4. Hardywood Pilot Brewery
Having established a devoted following in Richmond, Hardywood Brewery opened a pilot location in the heart of Charlottesville. This tasting room feature a 3.5 barrel brewhouse which is where the exciting experimentation happens that bring about hits like the raspberry stout. When you stop by, you can also enjoy local kombucha, nitro-coffee and homemade soft pretzels. Address: 1000 W Main St a, Charlottesville, VA 22903.
5. Blue Mountain Brewery
We're cheating a bit on this one, considering that Blue Mountain Brewery is located outside of Charlottesville in Afton. Yet this is another reason why Charlottesville makes for such a great brew destination: it's surrounded by iconic Virginia breweries such as Blue Mountain and Devil's Backbone. Blue Mountain, shown in an aerial photo above, offers a little bit of everything from craft beer, to a full menu, live music, and more. Address: 9519 Critzers Shop Rd., Afton, VA 22920.
