It's almost impossible to have average cheese in the state of Vermont. Because when it comes to our cheddar cheese and basically every other cheese, we don't mess around. This historic cheese factory has been around for many years and it's certainly worth a trip.
Plymouth Cheese Factory is located off the beaten road in Plymouth, Vermont.
In 2009, Jesse Werner — a native Vermonter, revitalized the old factory and equipment to create new artisan cheeses.
Sticking to tradition, all of their cheeses are crafted, cut, and waxed by hand — just like it was done more than 125 years ago on the Plymouth homestead.
It is the second oldest cheese factory in the United States.
In fact, the factory still occupies the building that it did when it was built in 1890 by Col. John Coolidge, father of Calvin Coolidge, the 30th President of the United States.
