The story of how this place got its start is quirky, but charming. The original owner, Lloyd Ash, kept having dreams about a purple turtle, and felt that it should be a restaurant. He took out a $10,000 business loan, and the rest is history.
The Purple Turtle has been a vibrant part of the community ever since. The second owner started working at the restaurant in high school, and purchased it in 1979. Over the years, hundreds of local high school students have worked here, and many are children and even grandchildren of former employees.
This is the place to go when you're craving a juicy burger, and fries or onion rings. The "pink sauce" is some of the best fry sauce in the Beehive State.
Everything here is fresh and made to order. Be patient - your food might take a few minutes, but this kind of quality is well worth the wait. You'll find more than 10 burgers on the menu, and each is made with a fresh beef patty.
The other well-loved menu item at Purple Turtle is its homemade sherbet. With different flavors every day like strawberry-pineapple, salted caramel with green apple, and huckleberry vanilla, you'll want to pop in often to see the latest confection.

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. An Instagram ad caught my eye during a late-night scroll session and I was intrigued by the colorful compartments and versatility of the bag, which can be carried as a duffle or as a backpack (I prefer the backpack for even weight distribution and airport navigation.) Why I Love It: Fact: Airplanes are notoriously dry, dry, dry. No matter how much water I drink both before and during the flight, I always find myself in a hydration deficit for days. Virgin is a small town in southern Utah, just a short drive from Zion National Park. Balcony One is an American restaurant with a Mediterranean twist. Here, you’ll find a dinner menu featuring a variety of dishes, a delightful cocktail bar, and views you’ll never want to forget. You can find Balcony One at 770 West State Road 9 in Virgin.
It seems like every detail of this restaurant is designed to impress. Inside, you’ll find a brightly decorated dining room with eye-catching décor. However, if you are like me, you’ll want to dine on the outdoor patio and enjoy the view. Guests 21 years and older are allowed on the outdoor patio and here, they can receive panoramic views of the landscape that this area is well known for. Plus, it isn't uncommon to enjoy live music as you dine, truly elevating your experience.
While the vibe of this Virgin, Utah restaurant is certainly impressive, so is the food. The menu is packed with a variety of fresh dishes from appetizers and entrees to a children’s menu and delicious desserts. With so many delicious options on the menu, you may have a hard choice choosing your meal. The menu features items such as ribeye, pork chops, and oven-roasted chicken. There are also items like the seared ahi tuna, which is flown in fresh from Hawaii. And, of course, pair your meal with a cocktail and you have a dining experience to remember.
While children may not be allowed to sit on the outdoor patio, there are still plenty of things they’ll love about this restaurant — including the food. The children’s menu features items like pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches and chips, penne, and more. The children’s menu items are only $10 each.
For me, a sweet treat is the perfect way to end a meal and at Balcony One, there are delicious desserts available such as the house-made cheesecake, baklava, and flourless chocolate torte.
In addition to the incredible environment, great views, and fabulous food, Balcony One also has additional amenities and services such as a large banquet room that can seat up to 40 people and a free chauffeur service that will take you to and from the restaurant and bar.
