Utah isn't famous for its wine scene - we only have a few wineries in the entire state. Even though we'll likely never compete with Napa Valley, our few wineries produce some excellent wine. Here's an award-winning winery in Moab that you'll want to visit soon.
Castle Creek Winery got its start in 2006, with plantings of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon grapevines. Since those early first days, the winery has continued to grow and develop. Today, it produces award-winning wines.
You’ll find Castle Creek Winery at Milepost 14 Highway 128, Moab, UT 84532
Moab is actually a great place to grow grapes for wine. The days are hot during the summer, but with an elevation of just over 4,000 feet, Moab cools off at night, which makes for the perfect grape-growing climate.
Castle Creek Winery produces several varieties of wine, including Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chenin Blanc.
More than 30 of the wines here have won awards over the years.
All of Castle Creek Winery’s wines are bottled right onsite. On a busy day, the bottling team can bottle 2,000 gallons of wine, and the winery produces 8,000 cases of wine every year.
You can even take a tour of the facilities while you’re here. To schedule a tour, call the winery at 435-259-3332.
You’ll definitely want to stop by the tasting room to try some of the wine. It’s open every day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m..
To get the most from your tasting experience, make sure to show up no later than 6:30 p.m., though you’ll probably want to spend even more than a half hour here.
Take some time to explore the vineyard, too. The views here are incredible!
