Open since 1942, the Houston Farmers Market is a local institution with nearly 40,000 feet of open-air space.
It's the oldest and largest farmers market in the city, and many of the merchants have set up shop here for generations.
Upon stepping inside, the vibrancy is the first thing you'll notice. All sorts of fresh fruits and vegetables line the walkways, delighting your senses with their beautiful appearances and inticing aromas.
There are several dozen stalls to explore, offering everything from seasonal produce to flowers and fruit trees for your own garden.
Exotic herbs and spices whisk you away on a culinary adventure, around the globe, encouraging you to branch out in the kitchen and try new recipes.
You'll also see things like raw honey...
...and even non-food items that connect visitors with cultures from all over the world.
The market also has an on-site butcher shop, R-C Ranch Texas Craft Meats. The shop offers humanely-raised Texas Wagyu beef and Heritage pork, plus chicken, lamb, goat, wild game, and other meats from local ranchers.
Two restaurants, Underbelly Burger and Wild Oats, allow guests to enjoy delicious cuisine using farmers market goods. Underbelly features beef from R-C ranch in its burgers, and Wild Oats crafts traditional Texas fare with produce from market merchants.
