Barbecue is an integral part of the Southern food pyramid, and The Salt Lick is arguably the most iconic joint in the Lone Star State. Most people don't know this, but the legendary Texas eatery has an all-you-can-eat barbecue option that lets you stuff your face 'til your heart (and stomach) are content. Who's hungry?
With locations in both Driftwood and Round Rock, The Salt Lick is arguably the most iconic BBQ joint in Texas.
Since 1967, the family-owned eatery has been slow-smoking its meats over hot coals, and it's said that you can smell the mouthwatering aroma from miles away.
The most legendary aspect of The Salt Lick is its massive open BBQ pit, and one look promises to leave you salivating with primal hunger.
A carnivore's dream come true, the pit is loaded with brisket, sausage, ribs, and several other types of meat - all high quality cuts, of course.
Good luck controlling your appetite - once you taste the complex flavors that only time-honored family recipes can impart, it's game over.
Luckily, the restaurant offers an all-you-can-eat option, so there's no need to pace yourself.
For $29.95 per person, you can enjoy endless beef brisket, sausage, pork ribs, potato salad, coleslaw, and baked beans, all served family style.
Bread, pickles, and onions are also available upon request. The price is just $9.95 for children 11 and under, and ages three and under eat free.
Not hungry enough for all-you-can-eat?
You can order a plate with the meat(s) of your choosing, instead. Smaller portions are offered for those over 60 and under 11 years old.
Texas-sized sandwiches can be made with beef, pulled pork, turkey, sausage, or a combination of chopped brisket, sausage, and ribs.
Pickles and onions are available upon request, and you can add sides for $2 more.
A la carte items include meat by the half-pound, all the aforementioned sides, and the restaurant's world-famous BBQ sauce.
Don't even think about skipping dessert! Their pecan pie is absolutely out of this world, as is the chocolate version. Blackberry and peach cobbler are also on the menu, plus bread pudding on Sundays.
Visit the restaurant's website or Facebook page for more information, such as current business hours and a full menu.
