Old-fashioned diners have a way of bringing us back to childhood. Nights spend at the local drive-in, standing outside of our cars and talking to friends while chowing down on some delicious food might be long gone, but we can still relive the memories at many places across the state. Keller's in Dallas is one such destination, and you'll be hard-pressed to find a Texan who's never heard of it. It's kind of a legend here, and you'll understand why as soon as you sink your teeth into one of their juicy burgers.
52 years ago, Jack Keller started the restaurant after working at a drive-in as a teen and becoming fascinated with the concept.
Little did he know, his little hole-in-the-wall would eventually be a legacy. You won't find a Dallasite who doesn't immediately recognize this signature poppy seed bun.
You'll be transported back to the 1950s when you pull into the parking lot filled with classic cars and motorcycles, their owners making small talk as they await the arrival of their food.
The most popular menu item is the #5 special: two patties, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and special dressing all between two poppy seed buns. It might sound simple, but Keller's still does it better than any other diner or drive-in around.
So if you want your taste buds to party like it's 1950, head on over to Keller's ASAP and delight in one of Dallas's most iconic eateries. Who knows - you just might wander into a spontaneous sock hop or jukebox dance party!
Keller's is located at 6537 E Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75231.
Have you ever been to Keller's? Are there any other nostalgic burger joints in Texas?
