The Longhorn Saloon took root over 40 years ago.

This iconic drinking den was first called Dick's Little Longhorn Saloon. After many years, a waitress named Ginny took over the bar. In 1982, Ginny's Little Longhorn Saloon took off and quickly became a local hot spot.

Ginny's rules were simple and easy to follow.

There'll be no fussin' or cussin' in Ginny's bar, only good music and friendly faces.

The live music flows as freely as the cheap Lone Star Beers.

The twangy pedal steels and plucky banjos will make even the most clumsy people start dancing.

Started by honkey tonk hero Dale Watson, this unique competition involves a bingo board and a fat, happy chicken. If the animal poops on your number, you could walk home with a lot of dough.

When Ginny first started this wacky tradition, she never thought it would take off. Fast forward 25 years, and this kooky game keeps people coming back every week.

The Little Longhorn Saloon host four rounds every Sunday. The festivities kick off at 4:00 and end at 8:00.

Ginny no longer owns the bar, but her legacy lives on.

Today, this honkey tonk is known simply as The Little Longhorn Saloon. Owners Terry and David Gaona purchased the bar in 2013 and made some much-needed updates. You can still see photos of Ginny and Dale behind the bar and the neon signs illuminate the space. You truly can't change this unique Austin gem.
