We told y'all about Lavender Ridge Farms a while back, but they recently added a cafe that deserves a top spot on your bucket list. All the menu items feature homegrown lavender picked mere hours before serving, and the freshness is undeniable.
Lavender Ridge Farms has been owned by the same family for over 150 years. It started as a strawberry and melon farm before the owners began growing lavender, geraniums, and other flowers, and herbs.
Spanning two acres, the farm features lavender in addition to herbs, geraniums, and a vast array of cut flowers. The smell is intoxicating!
After frolicking through the fields, pop into Lavender Cafe for a light meal. Grab a seat on the screened patio and gaze out at vibrant blooms extending far as the eye can see.
Lavender is interwoven into every menu item. The crowd favorite by far is a chicken salad dressed in honey and lavender mayo, with roasted pecans and fresh celery mixed in.
Difficult as it may be, try to save room for dessert. There are only three choices, so get one of everything for the whole table to share. Lavender cheesecake, a lavender brownie sundae, and lavender lemon gooey butter cake all contribute distinctly different yet equally delicious flavors that make it impossible to stop eating.
Before you leave, don't forget to check out the gift shop with natural beauty products, wreaths, home decor, and more items that include the plants grown on the farm.
Address: 2391 County Road 178, Gainesville, TX 76240. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday-Sunday.
Visit the farm's website or Facebook page to learn more.
