When it comes to dining in Texas, the options feel endless. With a wide variety of delectable places to grab a bite to eat, it's always refreshing when we discover a restaurant that genuinely intrigues us. If you're looking for an establishment that has more to offer than just amazing food, you'll love hearing about the history of this one frightening, but fascinating place in the town of Kingsland.
If the Grand Central Cafe
looks familiar to you, it might not be because you've already visited.
Built around 1909, the house originally sat in the city of Round Rock until late 1908 when it was moved to its current location in Kingsland.
Now a charming little restaurant, the house was rented and used in 1973 to film the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie.
The restaurant makes a point to pay homage to the film that attracts so much business, featuring a wall of photos for guests to enjoy.
The house is now currently owned by the historic Antlers Hotel that can be found just across the street.
The historic hotel bought the restaurant back in 1998. And while the house may have been restored and moved to this new location, the restaurant almost perfectly resembles how the home looked originally.
Aside from the recognizable exterior, the staircase is an iconic feature of the restaurant that many vividly remember from the film.
Fully restored, the staircase will lead you upstairs to the Club Car Lounge. But not without sending a chill or two down your spine first!
The majority of people don't believe this location to be haunted, but throughout the year and especially on Halloween you may be prone to finding your very own Leatherface inside Grand Central Cafe.
Many of those who come to dine at this restaurant are fans of the famous movie, eager to enjoy menu items like the Leatherface Lemonade.
Or even their Bloody Massacre drink!
The restaurant may not have dedicated its theme to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie, but it certainly has not forgotten its roots! Because a wall of fame isn't enough, you'll be able to find certain menu items like these drinks that give nods to the film. We highly suggest their Bloody Marys!
The restaurant has a fantastic breakfast menu that you can enjoy while you imagine all of the scenes from this horror film in your head.
This is a memorable location you'll want to cross off of your bucket list. Who's ready to dine at this fascinating restaurant?
Sure, the history of this place may be what originally draws you in to the Grand Central Cafe. But let's not forget to discuss just how amazing these home cooked dishes are! In many restaurants, a whimsical theme can often overpower a location, leaving the food tasting a bit undesirable. But that's far from the case at this restaurant.
