Buffets are definitely hit-or-miss. The bigger chains aren't often anything to write home about, with far too many selections and not enough staff to maintain their freshness. Local joints, however, are a completely different story. Mama Jack's in Kountze is everything we love about Texas wrapped up in one restaurant: endless amounts of Southern-comfort food, a cozy atmosphere, and some of the most polite and attentive waiters you've ever met. Take a look at the best all-you-can-eat buffet in Texas (and try not to drool all over your keyboard):
Mama Jack's is located at 215 S Pine St, Kountze, TX 77625. Located right off Highway 287, you can't miss this charming little country house that serves up some of the best food in Southeast Texas.
The inside is exactly what you'd expect of a Southern diner: rustic, wooden walls and tables, deer heads mounted on the walls, and plenty of old-fashioned decor scattered around the whole place. If this doesn't scream, "Texas" to you, I don't know what does.
The breakfast buffet dishes out your standard fare from 7 to 10:30 a.m., and the lunch/dinner buffet serves up a scrumptious rotating menu beginning at 11 a.m. and running until closing time at 3 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 9 p.m. Friday & Saturday.
You never know what the theme of the evening is gonna be, so come with an open mind and empty stomach! Some nights are seafood extravaganzas, with crawfish, whole crabs, shrimp, and all your other favorite crustaceans + delicious sides. Cajun-seasoned to perfection, you'll swear you're dining Gulfside on catches from that very day.
Other times, the entrees will include a little bit of everything: spaghetti + meatballs, chicken-fried steak, rolls...you get the idea. It's the perfect meal to satisfy each and every one of your taste buds (especially when a giant cinnamon roll for dessert is to follow.)
Even if buffets aren't your thing, you can still enjoy a meal at Mama Jack's. The fixed menu includes tons of delicious options like this juicy bacon cheeseburger with all the fixings and a side of crispy onion rings.
Seating extends to a cozy upstairs area with a TV and fireplace, so let your waiter know if you'd prefer to dine in a more intimate setting. How adorable are those picnic tables?
So next time you're passing through Kountze, don't just drive by Mama Jack's without stopping in for a bite. They might have to roll you out, but your heart is sure to be full and satisfied!
