Editor's Note: Unfortunately, due to the impact of Covid-19, Big Lou's Burgers has permanently closed. The pizza restaurant by the same name remains and you can learn more about this eatery in our previous article.
Sometimes, you just need to chow down on a giant burger without considering the consequences. That's exactly what this restaurant in San Antonio is all about, with a 12-pound monstrosity that challenges even the most ravenous appetites. Pay a visit to Big Lou’s Burgers in Texas and get ready to indulge in an epic meal.
Not to be confused with the pizza restaurant by the same name, Big Lou's is a burger joint like none other. Both eateries share two additional attributes: their location in the same city, and the monstrous menu items offered to tame even the most voracious of appetites.
Known as the "Super Big Lou Burger," this 12-pound behemoth costs a whopping $94.99. It serves twelve (or fewer if your group has big appetites!) and comes with fries, tater tots, and hand-battered onion rings.
A custom-made spatula must be used to transfer the burger from grill to basket. The patty itself weighs 100 ounces, before getting smothered in cheddar cheese, mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles.
Grilled jalapenos and onions, mushrooms, and bacon are available as add-ons. When it comes time to feast, each person grabs a triangular slice - much like serving a pie. This dining experience is as unique as the food is delicious.
Of course, you can get a regular-sized burger if Super Big Lou is too intimidating. Opt for a no-frills classic, or build your own with innovative toppings like fried pickles, homemade chili, and crispy egg.
All-beef hot dogs are another popular menu item, weighing a quarter-pound each and served on a toasted bun. Get yours plain, topped with mac 'n cheese, or deep-fried and wrapped in bacon.
Other crowd favorites include wings, BBQ smoked fresh daily, chalupas, and baked potatoes. Open up your dessert stomach for a slice of strawberry cheesecake, rocky road brownie, or banana pudding.
