With football season in full swing, nothing is more appreciated by a Texan than a good wing restaurant to sit back, watch the game, and enjoy some delicious food. You'll find just that in these 10 joints that serve the absolute best wings in the state.
1. Ten Bells Tavern (Dallas)
What better place to get some good wings than a tavern? Ten Bells is known across the DFW area for its sweet and spicy wings smothered in a tangy blue cheese sauce. On Wednesdays, you can get an order of wings AND a cold beer for just $10!
2. Duff's Famous Wings (Southlake)
Duff's has had almost 50 years to perfect its wings, so you can bet your bottom dollar they're amazing. Choose from a variety of sauces like traditional buffalo, honey barbecue, and garlic parmesan, and customize the spice level to your liking. The texture of the wings is just right, too - crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
3. Buffalo Wings & Rings (McAllen)
This is the place to go if you want good food with an atmosphere to match. There are huge big-screen TVs throughout the restaurant for watching sports, and the wings are much higher quality than Buffalo Wild Wings and the like. You can get any of the sauces at any level of spice, and Tuesdays are 69 cent wing nights!
4. Pluckers (Austin)
Pluckers is a popular wing bar with so many options, you won't know where to start. They're all boneless and available in 19 different flavors (including Dr Pepper...yeah, you read that right). Plus, it's a local joint, so you know that each batch is made with love and passion.
5. Wings Plus (Corpus Christi)
This restaurant is owned by a Korean family, and their culture is known for its wings. There are 15 different flavors from honey barbecue to "double 911," the hottest item on the menu. It's the perfect place to cater your football party or to just stop by on a Sunday and watch the game.
6. The Breakfast Klub (Houston)
The Breakfast Klub puts an interesting spin on the classic "chicken & waffles"...by using wings. You can also get them with grits and homefries, eggs, and basically any other breakfast food you can think of. It might sound weird, but I promise they're delicious, y'all.
7. SIRG Wings N More (DeSoto)
The picture doesn't do it justice, but SIRG is definitely the best kept secret in the South Dallas area. With over 20 homemade wing sauces and the ability to choose between boneless, bone-in, or whole, there's something for everyone.
8. Tommy Want Wingy (Austin)
I know we Texans don't typically go for food trucks, but I urge y'all to give this one a try. They're shaped uniquely, the sauces are interesting and flavorful (especially the spicy pineapple!), and the brothers who run the place are friendly as can be.
9. Bonfire Wings (Houston)
I figured a Creole joint was a necessary addition to the list since a lot of us have Cajun roots. The wings are fall-off-the-bone tender, and the flavor is unmatched by any competitor. Customers recommend the honey BBQ and lemon pepper.
10. Sauced Wings (Allen)
As the name suggests, the wings at Sauced are...well, sauced. The texture is perfect, the taste can't be beat, and the portions are Texas-sized. The only downside is the number of napkins you'll need when you're done.
Have you been to any of these restaurants? Which one is your favorite? Where else can you get some delicious wings in Texas?
