Next time you have a hankering for some banana pudding, hop in the car and head on over to The Mesquite Pit in Texas. This rustic, family-owned BBQ restaurant boasts the best banana pudding in the world. A bold claim? Yes -- but we're comfortable making it!
With locations in Weatherford, Granbury, and Mineral Wells, Mesquite Pit is a rustic, family-run restaurant specializing in steaks and BBQ.
Today, we'll be focusing our attention on the Weatherford location - the most popular of the three.
Inside, the atmosphere will take you back in time to the Old West, with a saloon-style bar, red and white checkered tablecloths, and taxidermy on the walls.
The era of the cowboy is still very much alive here, and the dining experience is almost as memorable as the food.
Speaking of food, let's take a gander at the menu.
The star of the show is aged and hand-cut steaks that are grilled over an open mesquite fire and cooked to your specifications.
Other entrees include seafood, chicken-fried steak, BBQ plates, and handhelds like sandwiches, burgers, and quesadillas.
As incredible as all the main dishes sound, they aren't the purpose of this article - that, friends, would be dessert.
The banana pudding at Mesquite Pit is often described as "the best in the world" by customers. By the looks of it alone, anyone would be inclined to agree!
Unlike your average banana pudding, this decadent creation is topped with a generous dollop of fresh whipped cream and an all-important cinnamon dusting (plus plenty of vanilla wafers, of course.)
Luscious and creamy as it gets, this is the stuff of legends.
You could turn your spoon upside down, and the pudding wouldn't budge an inch - that's how thick it is. It's filled with authentic banana flavor, offering the perfect ending to a delicious meal.
Address: 1201 Fort Worth Hwy, Weatherford, TX, 76086.
Hours are 11 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
