The words "all you can eat" are music to our ears here in Texas. Our appetites are almost as large as our state, so finding places that cater to that is always a great feeling - especially when those places serve all of our favorite Southern classics. Allen's Family Style meals is one such restaurant, dishing out fried chicken, creamed corn, peach cobbler, and more comfort-food staples, only stopping when you're full to the brim.
Don't be alarmed when you aren't offered a menu upon being seated at Ma Allen's (as the locals call it). Within minutes, endless amounts of delicious Southern food will be brought to your table.
As far as meat goes, the fried chicken is the talk of the town. It has a perfectly crispy shell and a tender, juicy inside. You'll also get one other meat - either sausage, barbecued ribs, roast beef, or meatloaf.
The sides are numerous - starches like creamed corn, sweet potatoes, potato salad, and buttery, peeled baked potatoes...
...and other veggies like squash, beans, slaw, spinach, boiled okra, and green pea salad area all contenders for a spot on your plate.
No matter how full you are, you have to save room for a helping of peach cobbler. It's just like grandma used to make, and you simply can't leave without trying it.
If your table doesn't look like this when you're finished, you'd better keep eating until it does. Don't worry, you'll have plenty of help - the tables here are huge, and you'll be seated with other families!
