There's something magical about childhood nostalgia, isn't there? Comfy tearooms and fairy tale stories bring back all sorts of lovingly cultivated memories, perhaps floral encrusted moments that make you smile in retrospect. If you're ever looking to rekindle the heart of those sweet moments, you may want to step into this lovely Tennessee shop that's straight out of a storybook. The Burdett's Tea Shop & Trading Company is located in Springfield, Tennessee, a sweet tiny town that makes its home in the mid-state. If you haven't been, you're surely in for a treat.
You can find Burdett's Tea Shop & Trading Company just off of Courthouse Square in the heart of Springfield. This quaint little town is host to many an antique shop and homey eatery, but if you're looking for that extra spark of magic you'll want to wander into Burdett's.
The interior design is cozy and homey, easily dredging up memories of lacy doilies and tiny, comfortable niches tucked away from the world. The tea room itself has been open and serving Tennesseans since 2001.
The tea room space actually occupies a building built in 1912, giving a historic depth to the storybook atmosphere. It was originally used as a general store and at one time the McCord and Harris Drug Store. The whimsical location is perfect for a small event or a quick lunch, and though walk-ins are welcomed we'd encourage you to call ahead for a reservation.
Notice the tin ceiling above the dining room? It's original to the building, which is quite the feat after the space was completely renovated in 2000. Enjoy homemade baked goods and delectable loose leaf tea (pinky up!), while surrounding yourself with the whispers of Tennessee history.
We love all of the sweet detail that goes into a tea shop of this caliber. Everything is completely thought through, with beautiful detailing.
You can order from the tea menu, rife with all flavors of tea and freshly made sandwiches, for the table or simply for one. Whether you're looking to host an intimate get together or take yourself on a date, there's an option for that! You shouldn't have to be accompanied by someone to experience the sweetness of this storybook affair.
We love this magical shot of the shop in the wintertime. You'll want to call ahead if you're experiencing inclement weather, but it seems like winter is a wonderland, and the cool spot offers a lovely reprieve from the weighty heat of summer.
If you have a hankering for some scones, you know where to go! You can visit Burdett's Tea Shop at 618 S Main Street in Springfield, Tennessee, from 11am to 2:30pm every day but Sunday.
If you're looking to continue your culinary adventures here in Tennessee, you need to check out this underrated cheese haven. Yep, you read that right!
