Here in Tennessee, we like doing things in ways that many folks from other parts of the country might call old-fashioned. But let's face the facts, folks: sometimes, the old ways are the better ways. And that's the case with this old-time general store located in Jackson, Tennessee. Whether you're looking for good homemade jams, a home-cooked meal, or just a spot to chat with the locals, this general store is the spot to go.
Located in the town of Jackson, Tennessee, Brooks Shaw's Old Country Store is a true blast from the past. While it definitely draws a crowd, this old-time store is a perfect dose of nostalgia.
The inside of the store has been kept up to match the decor of the old-fashioned general stores when the store was the town hub for everything you could ever need.
Of course, they stock the shelves with all kinds of local goods like their homemade jams that are absolutely incredible.
You can sample their jams when you get them on your biscuits at the cafe located in the store. They've always got a hot plate of food ready for you, just like grandma used to do.
The store is a part of the Casey Jones village, which is dedicated to native Jacksonian Casey Jones. You can even check out his museum while you're there to learn all about his life and the history of the railroad in Tennessee.
Of course, no visit to Brooks Shaw's Old Country Store would be complete without a mountainous cone of ice cream. Yum!
The country store is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner hours every day of the week, but for full information, be sure to check out their website. Visit them in Jackson at 56 Casey Jones Lane.
