Nashville hasn't been a "big city" for long, and you can blame its Metropolitan streak on the newbies and transplants that have piled in over the last handful of years. Still, if you're going to be here? You should probably get to know these ten local foods that truly define the heart of the city. Some are new, some are old, just like the sweet city we call our own. How many have you checked off of your foodie bucket list...?
10. A dipped ice cream cone....
...from Bobbie's Dairy Dip! It's a Nashville institution, and makes for a perfect late summer treat. Or year-round treat, if you ask us!
9. Belly Ham Pizza
Wait, what?! Yes, we aren't kidding. City House put their Belly Ham Pizza on TOP a few years ago, and it hasn't been shaken since. We'd recommend trying this Nashville favorite before it goes the way of the dodo.
8. Moscow Mule
Mule Monday at Village Pub is a local legend, the kind of place where folks from all over come to chat life and love over a couple of copper mugs.
7. Biscuits
This one is pretty self-explanatory, but if you haven't indulged in a Loveless of Biscuit Love biscuit just yet, you haven't been here long enough.
6. Tortilla Soup
From Mas Tacos, of course. This low-key local favorite sits just off the radar, but it's necessary if you find yourself in Nashville with a hankering for fare below the southern border.
5. Bushwacker
This bushwacker is a bit over the top, but we're still onboard! The Nashville favorite can be found at bars around town, and it mirrors an alcoholic milkshake. Yummmm.
4. Bonuts
The delicious and delightfully fun bonut is a mix between a biscuit and a donut, one of the best ways to experience Nashville's fun and quirky restaurant culture. It's quite the spin on a southern tradition, and we like it like that.
3. Hot Chicken
Is there anything more "Nashville" than hot chicken?! The trend has taken the nation by storm, and it all started in a tiny Nashville kitchen.
2. Truffle Fries
This little-known and delicious Burger Up wonder is a newly minted Nashville favorite. Whether you're on the west or east side of town, a french fry indulgence is more than necessary.
1. Meat 'n Three
We're going to finish off with a good ol' fashioned meat 'n three. It's a southern classic for a reason, and Nashville does it real well. Ever been to Arnold's?
