The South is known for its incredible comfort food, and there is no food more comforting than a good hearty bowl of mac and cheese. It's so integral in the diet of the average Tennessean, that you'll even find quite a few restaurants around the state that serve it under the heading of "vegetable." Ok, so it might not be a veggie, but it's still incredible, and the folks at this restaurant in Memphis have found a way to absolutely dominate the mac and cheese scene. Just see for yourself.
Sitting just outside the doors of the FedEx Forum in downtown Memphis is a hidden gem: The Bleu Restaurant and Lounge, located on the first floor of the Westin Hotel.
Bleu serves up some of the best food in the city, offering plates like herb crusted filet mignon in an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and welcoming.
But of course, where they excel is in their mac and cheese. It's definitely a sleeper hit, since it's only offered on their lunch menu currently, but it's absolutely worth the trip just for this delicious side.
If you'd like to go to Bleu but don't care for cheese (or can't eat it), there are plenty of other options, too. In fact, they also offer one of the best brunches in the city!
You can visit for yourself by making a reservation on their website, and it's open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The restaurant is at 221 South B.B. King Boulevard.
