Autumn is here, and that means that Nashville's eatery elite are taking on the season with a reinvigorated verve for flavor. If you're looking for everything from thyme to pumpkin to sage, these local restaurants are serving up the flavors of fall. From cozy pastas to squash-studded salads, there's nothing better than an autumnal deep dive into decadence. Check out these indulgent eats, and leave your favorite autumnal meals in the comments below.
1. Nicky's Coal Fired
Nicky's Coal Fired is known for its lively atmosphere and seasonally imaginative dishes. Although brunch is a little on the down low, folks who love Nashville's West Side Italian eatery swear by the sourdough Belgian waffles that make for a perfect autumn breakfast.
There's also the Butternut squash and mascarpone agnolotti, served up with sage, brown butter and hazelnuts. Add some sage and it's automatically autumn, right? Right.
2. Mockingbird Cafe
The Mockingbird in Nashville's Gulch neighborhood is known for its quirky and fun design, as well as the seasonal bites it offers on the menu. If you're looking for a taste of autumn, go for the "Oh Dear Gourd" salad. It's made mouthwateringly good with candied walnuts, squash, feta, pomegranate, boiled egg, bacon, pepitas, and sherry vinaigrette. True decadence!
3. Josephine
You can always count on Josephine for fresh, locally sourced meals! Housemade sweet corn agnolotti made with grilled mushroom, white miso and lime are perfectly paired with orange sweaters and delightfully chilly evenings. Plus, Josephine is conveniently located on 12th Avenue South, so there's no reason to skip this season.
4. The Old School
The Old School recently introduced a ratatouille galette, and it's perhaps one of the most perfect meals for the autumn season. Stuffed with warm veggies and baked on a perfectly flaky crust, it's the best balance between decadent and delicious out there. Keep in mind that all ingredients are sourced locally and grown fresh.
5. Fido
Fido is definitely the best spot to go if you're looking for a seasonal cup of joe. They were first put on the national map by way of Taylor Swift's 2010 obsession, but they've stayed relevant with their maple and pumpkin flavored lattes. Yum!
6. Butchertown Hall
Though Butchertown Hall is best known for its meat-centric menus, they serve up an autumnal dessert like no other. Come buy this fall to indulge in a slice of sweet banana cake or perhaps indulgent pumpkin flan (pictured).
Of course, make sure to check out their Halloween cocktails while you can. Fun and delicious, they're a real treat!
