Dine in a time capsule by visiting this train car diner in Murdo, South Dakota. The food and style is straight from the '50s and the train itself is a real 1950s Santa Fe Train that used to run from Chicago to California. Now it rests happily in the 1880 Town that's full of old and fascinating features. While you're there, you can stop for lunch in the Santa Fe Train Diner and enjoy some delicious diner fares.
The train is located in the 1880 Town in Murdo, South Dakota. The town itself is a time capsule from well over a century ago that's full of artifacts and recreations from the era. Houses, businesses, you name it. The only thing that is a bit out of place when it comes to the time period is the train diner that's straight from the 1950s.
You don't have to visit the town to eat at the diner (although I highly recommend it), anyone can stop by to enjoy their daily breakfast and lunch specials. If you get a chance, definitely try the caramel rolls - they are to DIE for, and always fresh, warm, and homemade.
While it looks like a normal train from the outside, within it looks like a classic '50s diner with plenty of nostalgic pieces that make eating at a diner so fun.
Everyone at the Santa Fe Train Diner is happy to serve your delicious meal with a smile. The experience is fantastic for people of all ages and a great way to enjoy a warm meal in an unusual place.
