When it comes to dessert, pie is king (and I will fight anyone who says otherwise), but, unfortunately, it can be tedious and time-consuming for those of us who have neither patience nor baking talent. Never fear, though, for you can still have your cake- err, pie and eat it, too, thanks to the one-of-a-kind Purple Pie Place in South Dakota:
Located in Custer, the aptly-named Purple Pie Place is just that, an eye-catching, purple building that specializes in all things pie.
Open in the summer and fall, the Purple Pie Place is known near and far for having the best pies in the Black Hills, thanks to their made-from-scratch selection that includes such favorites as strawberry rhubarb, cherry, and apple.
In addition to these more traditional pies, the Purple Pie Place also offers a few more unique flavors like strawberry rhubarb jalapeno, bumbleberry, and peanut butter.
Did we mention that you can buy by the slice OR pie?!
If it's lunch or dinner time and you are craving something savory before pie, the Purple Pie Palace also has a homemade menu of salads, sandwiches, paninis, and entrees like chicken pot pie or old-fashioned mac and cheese.
As if you really needed another reason to visit, the Purple Pie Place also serves all of your favorite ice cream novelties ranging from banana splits to sundaes to cones, bars, and shakes.
To learn more about the Purple Pie Place, its many homemade pies, and more, please visit their website.
The Purple Pie Place is open every day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
