Mmm, kuchen... is there anything better than a slice of this soft and flavorful cake (that tends to bring back memories of visits to Oma's house)? No way, right? Come to find out, there actually is, which is a cup of coffee and a slice of German cake from this humble little SoDak bakery, which -- we hate to say -- may even be better than Oma used to make:
Tucked away in the small Bon Homme county town of Tyndall is the namesake Tyndall Bakery; an 80-year-old business that is home to some of the tastiest baked goods in the Dakotas!
Like most bakeries, Tyndall offers a wide variety of home-baked goods, including a variety of breads...
Pictured is the Rohliky, but they also have an assortment of different buns, cinnamon toasts, croissants, and more!
...pastries, like these strudel sticks, donuts, cinnamon rolls, and kolaches...
...and pies, cakes, and cookies that are worth spoiling your diet for!
(I will take one of each, please!)
While everything at Tyndall is nothing short of scrumptious, the most delicious -- and special -- part of all is that of their authentic kuchen!
Made fresh daily, Tyndall offers several flavors of this popular German dessert including blueberry, caramel apple, poppy seed, and even rhubarb (when it is in season).
The Tyndall Bakery is located at 1707 Main St. In Tyndall and is open Tuesday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.
