When it comes to burgers in the Palmetto State we all have our favorite go-to joints where we've discovered the meaning of life wedged between two sides of a single bun. When you're craving red meat there's nothing like that full-blown red meat euphoria afterward, right?
There's one burger in South Carolina that'll satisfy that red meat craving in a way no other burger can. Have one of these - and finish it - and it'll make you feel like you can take on anything - after a long nap, of course.
River City Cafe in Murrells Inlet is the place to find this elusive burger, a burger so colossal you'll be calling for your momma before it's over.
But River City Cafe serves up more than just burgers. They have seafood too, like this Po Boy Shrimp Sandwich. Uh, Yum!
They also have several creative concoctions in the burger department. Try the Cheetos Burger - it looks kind of fun.
Or the Fried Mac N Cheese Burger, which isn't technically a cheeseburger.
It seems everything on the menu at this restaurant is a little bigger than you'd expect...wait for it...
...like onion rings the size of your face!
River City Cafe actually has several locations along the Grand Strand.
You'll find a map of those here.
Each location is uniquely decorated. Some of the things you'll see you just wouldn't expect...
...and others are simply nostalgic. But that's not what you came for. You want to see that colossal burger we mentioned earlier. Right?
Here it is. They call this "The Kitchen Sink."
It's two hand-patted burgers (fresh and never frozen) stacked with Texas Chili, hickory-smoked bacon, grilled onions, jalapeños, mushrooms, both Swiss and cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, mustard, mayo, stuffed between two grilled cheese sandwiches and served with a big pile of fries, two giant fried onion rings and slaw.
And whoa, if you can manage to take on this burger, you can take on anything!
The Kitchen Sink sells for $14.99 at River City Cafe locations along the Grand Strand, including the one shown in the photo above in Murrells Inlet. Are you ready to take on the world with this mammoth creation? Or do you know someone who can?
