Editor's Note: Unfortunately, Snapper Jack's is now closed. Be sure to take a look at this festive restaurant if you're looking for a great place to eat on Folly Beach.
I'm always intrigued by before and after photos, whether it's of people, buildings, or DIY projects. It's fascinating to see the change when something has been renovated or improved or someone has grown after experiencing difficult life experiences. I'm a big sucker for historical building preservation and I love seeing when an old structure is repurposed. I'm reminded of one of my favorite movie lines from the movie, Seabiscuit: "You don't throw a whole life away just because it's banged up a little bit." And one of my favorite examples of this is the building that used to be Folly Drug that now is one of the best happy hour hot spots in South Carolina. Take a look with me, and I think you'll agree, especially if you're a beach lover!
What used to be Folly Drug at the corner of Center Street and East Ashley Avenue ...
... is now Snapper Jacks, an oceanic-themed seafood spot with an open-air rooftop bar popular for happy hour any day of the week.
You'll experience a fun vibe in a relaxed setting, perfect for unwinding from the day.
The views from the rooftop bar are spectacular, especially at sunset. You can also see the ocean!
Steamed oysters, oysters shooters, and sushi are favorites at Snapper Jacks, and the fried fish sandwich is said to be the best on the Island. There are options like burgers and chicken sandwiches if you're not in the mood for seafood or have an allergy.
This happy hour hot spot in South Carolina is also open for lunch, so you can visit any time of day for a delicious meal and scenic views while dining. If you're traveling to experience happy hour at Snapper Jacks, you may want to book a place to spend the night afterward. Check out this super cute Vrbo near the Folly Beach pier, which is walkable to Snapper Jacks.
