Is your bar food palate tired or bored? Similar to other types of eating establishments, sometimes it seems like everyone has almost the exact. same. menu. Not so with The Lucky Luchador, which has some of the best bar food in Charleston, South Carolina. Come along as we explore what makes it so special!
The Lucky Luchador is located in the building that used to house the Palace Hotel on Hanover Street, sandwiched between Meeting Street and East Bay Street in downtown Charleston. It's only been open since September of 2022, and the verdict is in on all three counts!
The Bar Food
This bar offers a small menu of simple pub fare including basic, typical bar food like chicken fingers and fries along with Mexican-inspired cuisine like tacos and quesadillas.
By now, you're asking yourself, What's so special about that? And the answer is: Nothing. Ha! But that's not the end of the food story.
You'll also find pop-up features throughout the week, when a local talent is showcased. And this is where you'll experience some of the most tasty bar food you've ever put in your mouth.
The Ramen night pop-up is very popular with customers...
... as well as the Korean corn dogs by Seol Ah's.
The thing is with this type of concept – you just never know what type of cuisine you might get to try on any given night. It's like an ongoing surprise party!
And then, of course, there are the drinks. You might run into specials, depending on the day, such as Margarita Mondays or Tequila Tuesdays. If you're a fan of green tea, ask about green tea shots on tap!
The Atmosphere
Now let's talk atmosphere, an important element to pair with the food and drinks. Perhaps the best part of it is that you'll feel right at home here with a welcoming and friendly staff.
Inside, the place has been set up with a dark, moody dive bar vibe, complete with traditional pub lighting, wooden tables, and metal barstools ...
... while outside in the patio area it's quite the opposite, with bright colors and a happy, upbeat feel.
The Experience
It's the perfect place to meet up with your buddies after work or to watch a game.
But if no one can make it, you're likely to make a new friend while enjoying great bar food and drinks.
The only question remaining is: Will you survive The Lucky Luchador?! It's time to put that question to the test.
Visit The Lucky Luchador on Facebook to stay up to date on upcoming pop-ups, specials, and more. And if you're not from Charleston, you're going to need to book a Vrbo or stay somewhere nearby overnight after all that partying. The Charleston Place Hotel is one great option we'd recommend, conveniently located right there downtown as well.
