Prepare to get hungry reading this article. There's something about a good plate of fried shrimp that seafood lovers just can't resist. Is it the breading? The flavors? Or a combination of each and knowing that a really good fresh shrimp promises a savory sweet punch with each bite?

1. Roadside Seafood in Charleston. (807 Folly Road)
Roadside Seafood got its start as a super popular food truck in Charleston in 2012. Their famous fried seafood was so much in demand that they opened a brick and mortar site on Folly Rd in 2014. At the moment, Roadside Seafood has THE BEST Fried Shrimp in all of South Carolina, according to Trip Advisor reviews.
2. Flowers Seafood in Edisto Island (1914 SC-174)
This small seafood shop has a reputation for selling only the freshest catch for your home cooking, but they ALSO have a food truck out back that makes some of the tastiest and freshest fried shrimp you'll get in these parts.
3. The Shrimp Shack on St Helena Island (1929 Sea Island Pkwy)
The Shrimp Shack is addicting for locals and tourists alike. You CAN order the fried seafood platter, but the Shrimp Burger is out of this world!
4. Bowens Island Restaurant in Charleston (1870 Bowens Island Rd)
Yep. The shrimp at Bowens is so beautiful you'll easily want to call them "posers." Just look at how they hammed it up for the camera in this shot. Seriously, get the fried shrimp here with a side of fried oysters too.
5. Magnolias in Charleston (185 East Bay St)
We know, we know...and if you've ever been to Magnolia's in Charleston then you know...fried shrimp isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you're ordering dinner. But maybe it should be. Magnolia's ranks inside the Top 10 Restaurants in the state on Trip Advisor for the best fried shrimp.
6. Inlet Crab House & Raw Bar in Murrells Inlet (3572 US-17 BUS)
Don't underestimate the power of the famous Shrimp Po Boy at the Inlet Crab House. It's a favorite and will lead you back to the Inlet over and over.
7. Dave's Carry Out in Charleston (42 Morris St # C)
Like we always say: Soul food ... is whole food! Dave's Carryout in Charleston is THE spot for fried shrimp the soul food way.
8. Boochie's Seafood Market in Walterboro (900 S Jefferies Blvd)
We can't resist quoting this one Facebook review from K.D. Elwine for Boochie's, "Oh my GOSH!! This guy can COOOK seafoood! WOW! You won't find it any better, any where.... promise!!!" We think that says it all...
9. Croakers at Apache Pier in Myrtle Beach (9700 Kings Rd)
This may be the prettiest shimp basket in the whole state. According to Trip Advisor users, it's also one of the BEST in the state. Next time you're in Myrtle Beach, stop by the Apache Pier.
10. Folly Beach Crab Shack on Folly Beach (26 Center St)
Hey! No fair putting a cold beer in the photo... Besides, the fried shimp (and fried seafood platter shown here) at the Folly Beach Crab Shack are delicious enough to compete all on their own.
11. Capt Jimmys Right Off The Boat Seafood Joint in Hollywood (4378 Hwy 174)
Capt Jimmys in Hollywood (SC, not CA) is one of those places in South Carolina that you'll say is definitely worth the drive. Try the "Surf and Pig" (shown) and get your BBQ on at the same time you get your shrimp fix.
12. Sullivan's Restaurant on Sullivan's Island (2019 Middle St)
Wait...a...second. Is THAT bacon-wrapped fried shrimp?? We're warning you now...be prepared to start a life-long love affair with this restaurant from the first time you set eyes on your meal. Oh, and they also have fried shrimp that's not wrapped in bacon, but hey...thanks to Yelp user "Robert H." for submitting such a great photo of this plate!
13. Seewee Restaurant in Awendaw (4808 N Hwy 17)
Because no serious list of the Best Shrimp Joints in South Carolina would ever be complete without including the famous Seewee Restaurant in Awendaw. Admit it, you've driven by on your way to somewhere else and licked your lips because you've been there and you know how good the food is. Take a look at this shrimp. It should be in a frame, it's so perfect!
14. Pearlz Oyster Bar in Columbia (936 Gervais St)

15. Tubbs Fish & Shrimp Co in Florence (1500 2nd Loop Rd)
Folks in Florence swear by Tubbs. You can tell when a restaurant is doing all the right things because people just keep coming back for more. Try the Firecracker Shrimp as an appetizer or skip straight to the fried shrimp platter. You won't regret it.
