Everyone raves about the food scene in San Francisco—so much so it can be hard to know where to go. The city is full of eclectic eateries, world-renowned restaurants, and overlooked gems. In 2017, make it your resolution to hit up some of the city's best restaurants, both old and new. This list is a good place to start: Here are 11 places you should eat in San Francisco in 2017!
1. Liholiho Yacht Club: 871 Sutter St
Liholiho Yacht Club is a Hawaiian inspired restaurant with an innovative menu. Expect Chinese, Korean, and Indian twists, and be prepared for flavorful seasonings. This place is still fairly new and very popular, so plan ahead.
2. Al's Place: 1499 Valencia Street
Al's Place is creative in an eye catching way by making the vegetables the stars of most of their entrees. However, Al's serves plenty of meat, so delight in this original spot in the Mission.
3. Smokestack at Magnolia Brewing: 2505 Third Street
Barbecue is not as popular as it should by in the 415, so check out this spot. Head to the Dogpatch for Magnolia Brewing’s fast-casual bar and restaurant. This restaurant is bringing barbecue to a new level. If you go order brisket or marinated black-eyed peas.
4. Foreign Cinema: 2534 Mission Street
A longstanding favorite for good reason because people enjoy good food and a classic flick, all in an eclectic setting. Foreign Cinema remains one of San Francisco’s most memorable restaurants.
5. Homage: 88 Hardie Place
Believe it or not, the Financial District is offering more fresh dining options in 2017. Homage offers locally grown food in a creative way. This restaurant is a delight offering smoky fennel sausage meatball sandwiches to a Vietnamese-inspired cold noodle salads.
6. El Metate Restaurant: 2406 Bryant Street
If you want to enjoy Mexican food especially Mission style burritos in style then this is the place to go in 2017. El Metate has been compared to Taqueria Cancun on Mission Street, but El Metate offers high end mission style burritos. The Carnitas burrito is well regarded!
7. Mozzeria: 3228 16th Street
Mozzeria is a pizzeria known for tossing a high-quality, wood-fired Neapolitan pizza all without any words spoken. Owned and operated by Melody and Russell Stein, both deaf, Mozzeria not only provides excellent food and service as well.
8. The View: 780 Mission Street
The name says it all! Massive arched windows showcase city views at this grand spot.
Hand crafted cocktails and locally inspired small plates make this place special and alluring. But, what everyone loves is the scenery from the top floor of the Marriott in SOMA.
9. El Techo: 2518 Mission Street
Enjoy a fantastic menu featuring fresh Latin American cuisine. El Techo is the only rooftop restaurant in this part of SF, El Techo is a place to escape the bustling streets of the Mission, enjoy the heat lamps, and check out incredible views of the city skyline.
10. L'Osteria Del Forno: North Beach
Sadly overlooked, but still popular this is a place that needs to be visited in 2017. L'Osteria Del Forno is known for thin crust pizza, so we recommend ordering the prosciutto and arugula pizza, and finally make sure to get wine. This charming spot feels like it could be in Italy because it is intimate and small.
11. Chez Maman: 1401 18th Street
Opened back in 2002, the original Potrero location of this French bistro is a true neighborhood gem. The crepes and fresh salads are divine, and the Chez Maman "Mac & Cheese" with truffle oil is as rich and creamy as you'd imagine.
