We're pretty spoiled by the abundance of tempting bakeries we have here in Rhode Island, especially for such a small state. That being said, it's safe to say that nothing quite compares to Ellie's. At this local gem, you can order the most beautiful custom-made cakes you've ever seen... and they'll even teach you how to create your own.
Ellie's is located in Providence, where it has been since its 2012 beginnings.
Back then, Ellie's was a tiny seven person bakery on Washington Street. But it wasn't long before they realized they needed to expand.
Ellie's now resides in a beautifully restored building from the 1920s.
And thankfully, it seats a lot more than seven.
This intimate cafe and bakery is inspired by the Parisian way of living, a place where simple pleasures are enjoyed and the pace is slow and relaxed.
And while current conditions have limited their services to takeaway, Ellie's will be back to a social gathering spot as soon as possible.
The star of the show here is the magnificent (and mouthwatering) cake.
The cake is so beautiful, you almost won't want to eat it (but you will).
In addition to selling cakes made fresh daily in the bakery, Ellie's offers customized cakes as well.
These impressive treats will be the highlight of your next celebration. Ellie's even offers baking classes with 6-12 students ready to perfect the art of cake decorating or macaron making.
The sweet treats at Ellie's are absolutely to die for, and we recommend that you eat dessert first...
... but this place is also a full-service cafe with tasty breakfasts and lunches.
Order your breakfast online and it will be ready for pickup the next morning.
Indulge in one of the sandwiches here. Trust us.
Not only is everything freshly baked, but the ingredients are fresh and locally sourced whenever possible.
Ellie's is truly one-of-a-kind, and we're lucky to have it here in Rhode Island.
Supporting a local business has never tasted so good.
