Christmas just may be the most beautiful time of the year, especially in the Pittsburgh area. Unfortunately, it’s also usually the coldest time of the year. While we may want to head out to all of the fun outdoor Christmas attractions, such as Kennywood Lights, sometimes we prefer to stay warm and cozy indoors. Embrace the Christmas spirit with the whole family while staying toasty in your car while you gaze out at the best Christmas lights near Pittsburgh.
1. Christmas Light Up Celebration – Imperial
Start a new family tradition or continue a treasured one with a drive through the Christmas Light Up Celebration in Clinton. A popular holiday destination since 1993, the drive-thru Christmas lights display kicks off the holiday season in style every year.
2. Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland – Prospect
Let more than two million twinkling Christmas lights bedazzle you as you drive through the spectacular Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland. The drive-thru Christmas light display can get really busy, especially on the weekends. However, the popular attraction is now offering an Express Pass, so you don’t have to wait as long. (If you choose to get the fast pass, you can avoid the sometimes hours-long wait.) After you’ve driven through this beautiful Christmas light display near Pittsburgh, go inside where you can meet Santa, attend Elf Training School, and treat yourself to hot chocolate. Check out Shadrack's Christmas Wonderland's Facebook page for tickets.
3. Baker Family Christmas Extravaganza of Lights – Cranberry Heights
Drink in the sheer beauty of 35,000 shimmering Christmas lights on one sensational home in Cranberry Heights. The Baker Family Christmas Extravaganza of Lights features a spectacular light show, arranged to music, every Christmas season. Donations to the Pace School are requested.
4. Overly’s Country Christmas – Greensburg
Overly’s Country Christmas technically isn’t a drive-thru light display, but it certainly features some of the best holiday lights around Pittsburgh. Admire the lighted displays on the one-mile path that will lead you to the parking lot of the popular Christmas attraction. Once you’ve parked, bundle up for your visit to the old-fashioned Christmas Village. The charming village offers horse-drawn sleigh rides, appearances by Santa, delicious food, and shops. Overly’s Country Christmas is normally open toward the end of November.
