When's the last time you had a really good meal? But, not just any meal. A meal that included picturesque views, an attentive and friendly waitstaff, and a laid-back atmosphere that just made the whole experience even more memorable? Well, if you've ever traveled to Ligonier, or taken the kids to Idlewild, chances are you've passed this oddly named restaurant near Pittsburgh. But, if you haven't yet stopped in to this family-friendly eatery, you don't know what you're missing.
Tucked along a winding stretch of tree-lined Route 30 in Ligonier, The Road Toad promises a delicious meal and stunning views.
So, grab a seat at the bar, where you can order from the generous assortment of red and white wines or watch the latest sporting event.
Or, when you make a reservation, request a seat by the windows that overlook the shimmering Loyalhanna River. (Weather-permitting, you can also sit on the outside deck.)
Then, peruse the menu that's brimming with dishes that are all made to order from scratch.
Order such scrumptious appetizers as the jumbo shrimp cocktail, pierogies, or chicken wings. Of course, you might also want to start with a house salad or soup.
Or, jump right into the entree, such as the N.Y. strip steak, liver and onions, or ribeye steak. The menu also boasts chicken, seafood, and pasta dishes.
Save room for dessert, too. Then, dig into a scrumptious slice of turtle cheesecake, key lime pie, or a cherry-topped ice cream sundae.
Enjoy picturesque views at the Road Toad, open Monday from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. or Wednesday and Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Or, stop by Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. or Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
