We Pittsburghers are pretty fortunate to live in a town brimming with amazing restaurants. If you want it, you can probably find it in the Burgh. From fine dining to traditional diners, Pittsburgh has it all. For a delicious homecooked meal in a warm atmosphere, plan to visit one of Pittsburgh's oldest restaurants.
Mitchell's Restaurant has been a Pittsburgh favorite since 1906. Founded by Greek immigrant Constantinos Michalopoulos, who arrived in Pittsburgh in 1902, the name Mitchell's came about quite by accident.
Michalopoulos Dining Room was just too long to paint across the front of the restaurant window. So, the entrepreneur opened the phone book and landed on Mitchell. And, viola! Mitchell's was born.
Mitchelll's has gone through several transformations during its storied history, finally moving to its current spot in 1993.
Grab a seat in the main dining area, at the bar, or - on those warm, breezy days - on the outside patio.
Start your lunch with a homemade soup, which Mitchell's makes from scratch each day, or an appetizer. Appetizers include provolone sticks and Buffalo fresh cut fries.
Mitchell's menu features such comfort foods as Caulfield's Hot Meatloaf, Joey Diven's Hot Turkey, and Pop's Hot Beef.
Not in the mood for comfort food? Try one of the sandwich plates, burgers, wraps, or paninis.
Stop by Mitchell's to watch the big game, to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, or rent the banquet hall for a private celebration with friends and loved ones.
Mitchell's welcomes guests for lunch Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The bar is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Saturday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
