Okay, pizza lovers, this one’s for you! PA’s home to a ton of amazing pizza joints. We can probably all agree with that. However, did you know that one county, in particular, boasts its very own pizza trail? Yep, the Lackawanna County Pizza Trail in Pennsylvania boasts 63 stops. Are you up for following this epic pizza trail?
(Before you visit any of the pizzerias on the delicious pizza trail, make sure to check that they are open and confirm hours.)
Lackawanna County lays claim to some of the state’s very best pizza joints and Old Forge, known as the Pizza Capital of the World.
That means you’re pretty much guaranteed to find a scrumptious slice of pizza wherever you go in the county. But, where do you start? What pizza joint do you try first?
If you want to hit the entire pizza trail, which could take quite some time, the official trail begins in the North Poconos. It winds through Old Forge, Taylor, Moosic, Scranton, Dunmore, and all the way through to Carbondale, where the trail ends.
Work up a hearty appetite for your first stop on the official trail – Ferri’s Pizza. The charming pizza place in Moscow dishes up traditional and specialty pizzas, including the hot wing and the bacon cheeseburger pizzas.
The North Poconos stops also feature such popular pizzerias as Kay’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria.
You’ll find the most pizzerias on the pizza trail – 17, to be exact – in Scranton. Alfredo’s Pizza Café, Pizza by Pappas, and Vince the Pizza Prince all made the list.
Once you’ve finished the pizza trail, don’t despair. Lackawanna County is home to more than 160 pizzerias, making it easy to explore even more.
Check out the full list of pizza joints on the Lackawanna County Pizza Trail on the official website of Lackawanna County Visitors Bureau. The website includes a map to make your planning easy.
