Soak up the historic ambiance at 1794 The Whiskey Rebellion, a charming restaurant that pays homage to an important period in Pennsylvania history.
The uprising by Western Pennsylvania farmers and others was in response to the federal government voting to impose a tax on spirits, including whiskey, as well as on those businesses that produced them.
Those in the rebellion, in fact, set up camp in Carlisle.
Today, 1794 The Whiskey Rebellion pours more than 100 types of whiskey, both international and domestic. Pull up a stool at the bar for a drink.
The Carlisle restaurant also offers outdoor seating and a beautiful indoor dining area with a fireplace.
Open for dinner service only, the restaurant features a menu jam-packed with delicious dishes. Start with a hearty helping of soup or stew or a classic Caesar salad.
Or dig into such favorites as onion rings, soft pretzels, or deviled eggs.
Whatever you're craving, you're sure to find something that hits the spot - from prime rib and crab cake to...
Ravioli and slow-roasted chicken. Couple your entree with such classic sides as pickled vegetables, 1794 root hash, or sweet potato fries.
