In the 1930s, Danny and Jo Di Bruno arrived in Philadelphia through Ellis Island.

They expected streets paved with gold, but loved the cobblestones in their new city. The Di Bruno brothers opened up Di Bruno Bros. Grocery Store at 930 S. 9th Street in Philly's Italian Market.

For nearly 80 years, Di Bruno Bros. has earned a reputation as the best place in the Italian Market for fresh cheese and meats.

Much of what the store has always sold is made in-house, from cheese to sausages and more.

The store is still family-run, as Danny and Joe passed the business down to their cousins.
